Water Festival is celebrated every year from 14 kaet Khe Kadek (១៤កើតខែកក្តិក) to 1 roch Khe Kadek (១រោច ខែកក្តិក ). In this year, Water Festival starts from 2nd to 4th of November.
After we missed
this event for three year, this is the second year that we celebrate it again. During
the middle of October, we see our authority had tried their best to make this
celebration run smoothly. Even there is a short period of time, but they wanted
our people and other foreigner guest could enjoy this event happily.
We see that in
this year, there were so many people in front of the Royal Palace, Chak Tu Muk river
side, Koh Pech city, and AEON mall. Everyone needed to walk from the Independence
Monument to the importance place or walk from AEON mall to the Royal Palace.
Even there were
much more people rather than last year, but it is still not the same last five
year. There were more people, even in front of the Royal Palace or the East of
Coast ( ត្រើយខាងកើត ). After shooting fireworks, we needed to stand there more than one hour
before we move. But now, we just waited only 30 minutes.
In this year, we
see that there were so many trash bins around the road or sitting place such
as in front of Naga World, Botom Votey park (សួនច្បារវត្តបុទមវតី), Independence Monument park, Koh
Pech city, Vot Phnom (វត្តភ្នំ), etc. That why, after we finish our celebrated, there
weren’t much trash as every years.
Beside this, we also see the concerting
of many advertise, but there were not the concert of beer as last year. Include
Koh Pech city, Psa Reatry, Botom Votey Park, there were the concert of un alcohol
drinking such as Khara Bav, Strong Power, Echitan, Oechik.
By the way, we see that nowadays the
people comeback to celebrated and enjoy this event, even some of them still worried
about the security and safe but they still came to see our boat racing and floating
during Water Festival. As a Cambodian people, I do happy to see we grow some
good habits of throwing the trash and forgetting the bad memory in the past. I wish
there were so many people more than this for the next year.
